Get up 1/2 hour to an hour earlier and go for a walk/jog on an empty stomach, do this will allow your body to use that stubborn fat as a source of energy helping you burn real body fat quicker.
Stay active – Whether it be going for a swim at the beach, kicking a ball with family at the park or enjoying your surroundings and doing a tourist walk or a push bike ride. Staying active is the key to keeping the mind and body in a routine whether it be in the gym or on holidays its keeping you mentally and emotionally on track.
Healthy food choices – Try and eat five to six small meals a day and keep your metabolism running (eat every three hours). Swap the starchy Pasta’s, breads and potato chips for salads, greens, wholegrain oats, wraps, rice cakes and sweet potato. Replace the sugary junk foods and high fat cheeses to fresh fruits, nuts and chop up some celery and carrots with some low fat cottage cheese. Be sure to eat protein with every meal.
Prep your meals – prepare your meals the day before so you have total control and know exactly what your eating. Not only will you save money but you will be less tempted to eat the bad stuff.
Drink plenty of water – have a big glass of water or two before every meal. This is the best way to avoid overeating and will keep you hydrated all day.
Alcohol choices – for best results avoiding all alcohol is best, however, being that its a festive time of year, if you want to have a drink go for a vodka with a little fresh lime and soda water. This is the lowest in calories.
Do a quick hit session in the evening with some squats, burpies, push-ups, sit-ups, lunges etc. Do each exercise for one minute /3 sets. If you have kids or friends get them involved and make it a holiday competition and get everyone involved. You’ll be burning calories and having fun at the same time.
Get a good night sleep – Sleep is very important not only to allow your body to rest and recover but it’s important for your brain to remain focused and stable and not being tempted by those late night snacks that are most likely high in carbs and trans fats.
